The honest take.
Gexa Energy is owned by NextEra Energy (the largest wind + solar producer in the US) and is known for aggressive promotional rates and a strong green energy focus. Many of Gexa's lowest-advertised rates come with bill credit tiers — you have to hit exactly 1,000 or 2,000 kWh to get the credit. Voltcheckr flags Gexa's gimmicky plans by default and only ranks them when your usage reliably hits the threshold. For households using between 1,000–2,000 kWh/month consistently, Gexa often offers competitive effective rates in Texas.
